Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: Make the digital economy bigger and stronger and promote the construction and application of 5G networks in an orderly manner

According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Industrial and Information Technology Work Conference was held in Beijing from December 28 to 29. The conference pointed out that in 2021, eight key tasks will be highlighted, and it is clear that an action plan for building a strong network country will be formulated and implemented to expand and strengthen the digital economy, orderly promote the construction and application of 5G networks, and promote network optimization and upgrading; at the same time, the development of advanced manufacturing will be accelerated and the concentration of the new energy vehicle industry will be increased.

The meeting pointed out that the main goals and tasks of the 13th Five-Year Plan were completed as scheduled, and my country's industrial and information development has achieved new historic achievements. From 2016 to 2019, my country's manufacturing added value increased by an average of 8.7% per year, from 20.95 trillion yuan to 26.92 trillion yuan, accounting for 28.1% of the world's total; the scale of the digital economy increased by an average of 16.6% per year, from 22.6 trillion yuan to 35.8 trillion yuan, accounting for 36.2% of GDP. The world's largest optical fiber and 4G network has been built, and the overall strength of the 5G industry has ranked among the world's high-end.

It is reported that in 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will focus on eight key tasks, including promoting innovation breakthroughs in basic and key areas, focusing on stabilizing and optimizing the industrial chain and supply chain, accelerating the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry, vigorously promoting the high-quality development of the information and communication industry, increasing support for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, and scientifically formulating the "14th Five-Year Plan" in the field of industry and information technology.

In vigorously promoting the high-quality development of the information and communication industry, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will formulate and implement an action plan for building a strong network country, coordinate the promotion of various tasks such as technology industry, infrastructure, industrial application, network security and governance, and expand and strengthen the digital economy. Orderly promote the construction and application of 5G networks, promote network optimization and upgrading, strengthen the supervision of the information and communication industry, strengthen the comprehensive protection of network security, and increase the intensity of radio management.

In terms of stabilizing and optimizing the industrial chain and supply chain, we will focus on key industrial fields that are related to the national economy and people's livelihood, and strive to enhance the independent and controllable capabilities of the industrial chain and supply chain. We will comprehensively and systematically sort out the development of my country's manufacturing industry, carry out actions to strengthen and supplement the manufacturing industry chain, and promote the optimization and upgrading of the entire industrial chain. Focusing on the target nodes of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, we will implement industrial low-carbon actions and green manufacturing projects, resolutely reduce crude steel production, and ensure that crude steel production decreases year-on-year.
