March 15 news: At tonight's 315 Gala, CCTV exposed the troubles that mobile phone cleaning software brings to the elderly.

CCTV reported that when Ms. Li, who is over 70 years old, was reading news and novels on her smartphone, some "security tips" would automatically pop up on the screen: "virus", "junk", "severe memory shortage". Ms. Li cleaned up her phone according to the prompts, but she found that the more she cleaned up these "security tips", the slower her phone became.

Most young people can identify the "safety tips" that pop up on the above apps as false tips designed to trick people into clicking on them. However, some older people may believe them and download these cleaning apps, causing their phones to become more and more stuck the more they clean.

The Cyber Security Center of the China Electronics Standardization Institute conducted a test on this. Experts downloaded and installed an app called "Memory Optimizer". During use, download links for software such as "Super Cleaner", "Smart Cleaner" and "Mobile Manager PRO" popped up. After testing "Mobile Manager PRO", experts found that this app appeared to be cleaning up mobile phone junk, but in fact it was secretly obtaining a large amount of information from the phone.

Finally, CCTV's 315 Gala reminded the elderly to use mobile phone cleaning software with caution.
