LMT to build 5G air-ground hybrid network with Omnispace

According to foreign media reports, Lockheed Martin (LMT) is working with Omnispace to explore how to develop 5G air-ground hybrid network technology suitable for global use. It is reported that this strategic agreement aims to combine non-geostationary satellite clusters and ground mobile wireless networks to achieve hybrid network connectivity coverage.

LMT envisions combining Omnispace's 2GHz S spectrum with 3GPP standards to build a single global 5G hybrid network that can interoperate with the networks and satellite clusters of telecom companies in many parts of the world. It will be able to achieve direct connection and interoperability with devices regardless of geographic location or environment, and will be suitable for civil, commercial, defense, and military purposes.

LMT said that users will be able to seamlessly transition between satellite and terrestrial networks without having to use multiple devices on multiple networks. They hope to provide a low-latency connection experience for end users anywhere, thereby subverting everyone's perception of space-based mobile networks.
