According to foreign media reports, Swedish supplier Ericsson has signed a new agreement with Spanish telecom operator Masmovil to upgrade the latter's 5G network using 5G Standalone technology.
It is reported that this new core network transformation project includes Ericsson's dual-mode 5G core, Ericsson cloud native infrastructure, Ericsson Cloud IMS, automated CI/CD, Ericsson Orchestrator, CENX service assurance and 5G management services. Ericsson said the upgraded 5G network will allow Masmovil users to experience faster browsing and downloading speeds and use new services such as virtual reality or augmented reality in almost real time. According to Ericsson, the capacity increases included in the agreement will also allow for a significant increase in capacity for Masmovil Group’s 5G and VoLTE subscribers, including prepaid services. “Together with Ericsson, we will make Masmovil one of the most advanced 5G operators. We are convinced that innovative, virtualized and secure networks will provide the best services to our customers on the fastest and most modern networks on the market,” says Meinrad Spenger, CEO of the Masmovil Group. Masmovil currently offers 5G services in more than 300 towns and cities in Spain. |
