5G messaging, which is seen by the industry as WeChat's biggest competitor, is advancing rapidly.

On December 17, according to media reports, China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom have begun large-scale deployment of 5G messages , and 5G messages are expected to become one of the first 5G applications seen by individual users.

It is reported that the concept of 5G messages was first proposed by the three major operators in the "5G Message White Paper" released on April 8 this year.

5G messaging is an upgrade of SMS services and a basic telecommunications service provided by operators. It achieves a leap in service experience based on IP technology, supports more media formats and has richer forms of expression.

It breaks the traditional SMS length limit and realizes the integration of text, pictures, audio, video, emoticons, etc.; it supports online payment, online and offline messages; and you can initiate group messages and group chats at any time without adding friends.

In addition, 5G messaging services are universal, and the 5G messaging-related functions and technical requirements created by the three major operators are based on the unified GSMA international standards .

Experts said that 5G messages not only rely on the continuous optimization and improvement of operators' platform capabilities, technical capabilities, and operational capabilities, but the support of terminal products for 5G messages is an important factor in the successful implementation of such products and services.
