As of mid-November 2020, network operators in 129 countries have issued 5G licenses, including network license acquisition trials in 129 countries. (This number does not include the more than 190 companies that won spectrum in the US CBRS PAL auction, all of which can be used for 5G).

146 operators announced that they have deployed 3GPP-compatible technologies in their live networks. Of these, a total of 122 operators in 49 countries/regions have launched one or more 3GPP-compatible 5G services. 115 operators in 47 countries/regions have launched 3GPP-compliant 5G mobile services, and 40 operators in 23 countries/regions have launched 3GPP-compliant 5G FWA or home broadband services.

It has been nearly two years since South Korea launched the first 5G commercial service for corporate users on December 1, 2018. In the past two years, more and more countries have begun to provide 5G commercial services.

4G changes life, 5G changes society. As a new generation of mobile communication technology, 5G is an important part of the next generation of information infrastructure. Compared with 4G, 5G will not only further enhance the user's network experience, but also have epoch-making significance for building the infrastructure of the Internet of Everything.
