  • Web development: $87,250 to $145,000 (roughly the same as last year's range of $86,000 to $146,250)
  • E-commerce analyst: $86,000 to $142,250 (roughly the same as last year's range of $85,250 to $142,250)
  • Front-end web developer: $72,000 to $136,000 (up from $67,000 to $132,000 last year)
  • Network administrator: $70,250 to $119,000 (about the same as last year's range of $70,000 to $119,500)

Consulting and system integration

There are only four positions of this type, from supervisor to ordinary employee, and it is one of the few positions where salaries have increased across the board since 2020.

The average annual income for consulting and system integration is:

  • Director: $122,750 to $209,000 ($121,000 to $206,000 last year)
  • Managers: $112,250 to $191,500 ($97,250 to $164,500 last year)
  • Senior consultant: $86,500 to $126,750 ($85,250 to $125,000 last year)
  • General consultant: $61,000 to $93,500 ($60,000 to $92,000 last year)

Data and database management

The category covers 12 careers covering the hottest areas of technology around, including positions related to big data, data science, architecture and modeling, artificial intelligence and business intelligence.

The average annual income of employees is:

  • Big data engineer: $132,500 to $226,500 ($130,000 to $222,000 last year)
  • Data architect: $123,250 to $199,250 ($119,750 to $193,500 last year)
  • AI architect: $123,750 to $194,750 ($120,250 to $189,000 last year)
  • Database administrator: $114,500 to $192,000 ($111,250 to $186,500 last year)
  • Data Science: $109,000 to $185,750 (replaces Database Development which was No. 5)

Quality Assurance and Testing

There are only 4 positions in this category, and the salaries are generally low.

Overall, the average annual salary for quality assurance and testing is:

  • QA and test managers: $89,250 to $144,000 ($88,750 to $143,250 last year)
  • Automation QA engineer: $74,500 to $124,500 (up from $74,250 to $124,000 last year)
  • QA assistant or analyst: $64,250 to $109,500 ($64,000 to $109,000 last year)
  • QA engineer: $64,000 to $103,250 ($63,750 to $109,000 last year)

Network and Telecommunications

This category actually goes beyond networking and telecom to encompass a lot of cloud-centric networking, including cloud architects, engineers, and more.

The average annual income for Internet and Telecommunications is:

  • Network/cloud architect: $121,000 to $202,250 ($117,500 to $196,250 last year)
  • Wireless network engineer: $108,250 to $184,000 ($105,000 to $178,750 last year, when they were classified as wireless network/cloud engineers)
  • Network/cloud administration: $100,500 to $174,750 (up from $97,500 to $169,750 last year)
  • Network/cloud engineer: $97,500 to $163,000 ($94,750 to $159,000 last year)
  • Telecommunications administrator: $84,500 to $141,500 ($83,750 to $140,000 last year)

Safety

Although the high-paying class in the IT industry is mainly occupied by big data engineers, the security field also has good salary prospects in 2021. This is also the field with the highest average salary increase last year.
