China Unicom 4G is about to explode! Full-network and full-band LTE is approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently issued a document approving China Unicom to adjust some frequencies for LTE networking. The so-called partial frequencies refer to "approving China Unicom to adjust the 900MHz, 1800MHz and 2100MHz frequency bands for LTE networking."

It is understood that China Unicom obtained the qualification to build 900MHz FDD LTE in June this year. At present, 900MHz is carried by China Unicom's GSM network. How to accelerate the rapid migration of 3G/2G users to 4G and release spectrum resources is also the next key task of China Unicom.

The financial report released by China Unicom shows that the total revenue in the first three quarters of this year was 207.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 2.3%; service revenue was 182.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.7%. Among them, mobile business service revenue was 109.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.1%; fixed-line business service revenue was 71.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.9%; profit attributable to equity holders was 1.588 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 80.6%. However, it is a significant improvement compared with the loss of 3.363 billion yuan attributable to equity holders after excluding the proceeds from the sale of towers in the second half of last year.

China Unicom also said that in the first three quarters of 2016, the group made every effort to make up for the shortcomings in the basic infrastructure, and the mobile business has achieved initial results in reversing the operating difficulties. During the period, the number of mobile bill users reached 262.074 million, a net increase of 9.757 million from the end of last year, successfully reversing the trend of mobile users declining for many consecutive months last year; among them, the number of 4G users reached 88.906 million, a net increase of 44.750 million from the end of last year, and the net increase of 4G users in September alone reached 6.054 million. The ARPU of 4G users was 79.3 yuan.
