If we were to say what surrounds our lives nowadays, it would definitely be WiFi. The first thing you ask wherever you go is, is there WiFi? But are there any real credible claims that 5G and unlimited data will replace WiFi? What is the concept of 5G? 5G is simply the fifth generation of mobile communication technology. But unlike 4G, 3G and 2G, 5G is not an independent new wireless access technology. It is a general term for the integrated solutions of existing wireless access technologies, including the technological evolution of 2G, 3G, 4G and WiFi, as well as some new supplementary wireless access technologies. Professionals estimate that 5G will be commercially available worldwide in 2020.
It is said that the speed of 5G network can reach 10 to 100 times that of 4G. It can transmit 8k resolution 3D video in real time or download a 3D movie in 6 seconds. In addition to being fast, the 5G network is also stable. Its theoretical value of user-side downlink speed can reach 20Gbps, and the uplink speed can reach 10Gbps. It can support 1 million devices per square kilometer. At the same time, the delay of 5G network is greatly reduced, with a maximum of no more than 4 milliseconds and a minimum of only 1 millisecond, which is much lower than the 20 milliseconds of 4G network. In addition to 5G, major operators have also launched unlimited data packages. Is WiFi really going to disappear? In fact, it is still too early. Although the mainstream operators have launched unlimited data packages, there are many restrictions on such packages. For example, China Mobile's data is limited to 40G, China Unicom's data is limited to 20G, and China Telecom's data is reduced to 2G when it exceeds 100G. These packages are somewhat useless for consumers and are relatively expensive. 5G is not to replace 4G and WiFi, but to integrate 2g, 3g, 4g and WiFi networks into it to bring users a better network experience. Because 5G will not have the difference in standards like 3G and 4G, 5G will be a fusion of unified networks to provide users with smart, powerful and unified network applications. Users do not need to care about the network they are in, and they no longer need to manually connect to the WiFi network. The system will automatically connect to the network with the best experience according to the on-site network quality, and truly achieve seamless switching. Therefore, on the whole, WiFi will not disappear so quickly, and 5G will not replace WiFi so quickly, at least not in the short term. |
