Intel and XSKY Debut at 2019 China Data and Storage Summit

On December 3-4, the 2019 China Data and Storage Summit with the theme of "Digital Intelligence and the Future" was held in Beijing. Intel and some strategic partners such as XSKY appeared at this summit and demonstrated a series of latest solutions such as Intel® Select SDS.

The summit was hosted by DOIT and lasted for two days, with nearly 20 peak sessions and 10 special forums, bringing together academic experts in the field of data and storage, leading figures of well-known data storage companies, and representative enterprise user representatives.

IDC described in its report "The Digital World - From Edge to Core": "A data-driven world is constantly tracking, recording, monitoring, listening, and observing - because it learns." IDC predicts that the global data circle will increase from 33ZB (zettabytes) in 2018 to 175ZB in 2025.

In the era of massive data, software-defined storage (SDS), based on the four significant advantages of "agility, elasticity, unlocking, and cost", provides enterprise users with a data persistence solution with powerful scalability, superior performance, and no single point of failure, becoming the preferred storage solution for many enterprise users.

Wikibon predicts that private cloud SDS will surpass traditional storage in 2021; IDC survey data also shows that the market share of broad software-defined storage (SDS+HCI) in Chinese enterprise storage has increased from 32.5% in 2017 to 39.1% in 2018, and is expected to reach a market size of nearly US$2 billion in 2023.

XSKY has been leading the Chinese software-defined storage market for several consecutive quarters and has become the only Chinese SDS manufacturer selected for Intel® Select Solutions. After pre-optimization of software and hardware by Intel and XSKY, as well as actual workload verification, it helps users build a software-defined storage system with excellent performance, stability and ease of use, fully ready for the digital future.

At the "Distributed Storage and Application" forum on the 4th, Lv Lei, Product Marketing Director of XSKY, also gave a speech titled "Sharing the Selection Practice of XSKY SDS All-in-One and Pure Software". He said that software-defined storage represents advanced technology in terms of architecture and theory, realizes the decoupling of software and hardware, and is deployed based on general x86 servers, breaking the "black box" of traditional storage.

But this does not mean that hardware is no longer important for software-defined storage. Hardware will directly affect the success of software-defined storage deployment. He suggested that users can choose whether to use pure software or all-in-one machine according to their own scenarios and application scale to achieve successful deployment.
