WiFi is about to be eliminated again. Downloading thousands of movies in one second is no longer a dream, new Australian research released

The WiFi transmission rate is already fast enough, however, the latest research will bring even higher speed improvements. An Australian research team has developed a new fiber optic transmission solution, which has brought significant improvements in transmission rate. The amount of data transmitted per second is as high as 40Tb, which is equivalent to the size of thousands of movies. Another advantage is that its cost is stable, and the chip required for the drive is very mini, only the size of a coin, which can be said to be very space-saving.

Although this technology is only a 2-fold improvement over existing ultra-high-speed data transmission, it is a 100-fold improvement over the currently commonly used data transmission.

The research team, which includes researchers from Monash University, Swinburne University of Technology and Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, has published a paper titled "Ultra-dense optical data transmission over standard fibre with a single chip source" in the prestigious scientific journal Nature.
