Business Fibre conducted an exhaustive study of 31 of the world's most popular destinations and applied a range of metrics to determine how internet-friendly they are.

They looked at things like average data costs, the number of free wi-fi spots, 5G coverage, the number of restaurants with free wi-fi, and average download and upload speeds.

When people travel, the internet is an essential tool to stay connected and do work while traveling.

So, which is the most internet-friendly city in the world?

London has the second highest number of free Wi-Fi hotspots at 688,126, while it has the highest number of restaurants with free Wi-Fi at 3,981.

London also performed well in terms of its 5G network and its upload speeds.

Second overall was Tokyo, Japan, followed by Paris, France and Singapore.

No Australian cities made the top 10.

Of the top ten cities, five are located in Asia, with Japan accounting for two of them.

Europe was home to four of the top 10 spots, including Amsterdam and Barcelona, with New York being the only US city to make the list.

Barcelona was the city with the fastest average download speeds at 59.2Mbps.

“London is one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations and, in its brilliance, is the most internet-friendly city and consistently ranks highly for the work it is doing to roll out 5G.
