At the recent World 5G Conference "5G and the Transformation of the Media Industry" summit, Cui Baoguo, professor of journalism and communication at Tsinghua University, revealed that Tsinghua University had started 6G trials at the end of last year . The experiment was led by Professor Niu Zhisheng, vice dean of the School of Information at Tsinghua University.

Professor Cui did not mention the details of Tsinghua University's 6G trial, but he mentioned Professor Niu Zhisheng, a well-known domestic communications technology expert, professor and doctoral supervisor of the Department of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University, adjunct professor at Beijing Jiaotong University, and IEEE Fellow . He is currently the vice dean of the School of Information at Tsinghua University and a recipient of the National Outstanding Youth Fund.

As for 6G technology, it is still in the technical exploration stage. The network speed of 6G is expected to reach 1000Gbps, and the delay will be less than 100us (that is, 0.1ms). The speed is 50 times that of 5G network, and the delay is only 1/10 of the latter.

In China, in November 2019, the Ministry of Science and Technology, together with the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, held a 6G technology research and development kick-off meeting in Beijing. At the meeting, the establishment of the National 6G Technology R&D Promotion Working Group and the Overall Expert Group was announced , marking the official launch of China's 6G technology research and development work.

More than 10 American companies, including Apple, Google, Cisco, Intel, Qualcomm, Microsoft and the three major telecom operators Verizon, AT&T and T Mobile, have recently established the 6G Alliance, which is committed to "promoting North American mobile technology to maintain its leading position in the 5G evolution path and 6G development in the next decade."

Leading companies in the communications industry, such as Huawei and ZTE, have also begun 6G research. Last year, Huawei established 6G R&D centers in many regions around the world. Ren Zhengfei has also previously stated that Huawei is also a leader in 6G technology.
