Secretly reducing 4G network speed to promote 5G? China Mobile responded for the first time, and the operator may have been wronged

Since the promotion of 5G mobile phones and packages, many people have reported that the 4G network speed has become very slow, so they suspect that the operator has deliberately limited the speed of the 4G network. Recently, China Mobile made its first response.

At the 2020 World 5G Conference, China Mobile General Manager Dong Xin stated that currently 385,000 5G base stations have been opened across the country. In addition, Dong Xin emphasized that while comprehensively building 5G, it is also necessary to ensure the improvement of 4G network services.

Dong Xin meant that the slowdown of 4G network speed was not intentional by the operators. In fact, when deploying 5G networks, 5G and 4G often coexist. With the surge in the number of users, the operators have limited pipelines to build. When the pipeline exceeds the limit, it will affect the network experience.

For example, a road can only accommodate 100 vehicles at most, but 20 more vehicles rush into the road, causing a traffic jam. Many users report that the 4G network speed has slowed down, which is likely to exceed the network's tolerance limit.

Of course, there is another reason. The "unlimited packages" promoted by operators before have benefited many users. However, the packages clearly state that if the usage exceeds a certain amount of traffic, the speed will be limited. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why the 4G network slows down.

Could it be that we have wronged the operators? Previously, an authoritative organization conducted a survey. The investigators randomly selected 4 different places to test the network speed. The results showed that the network speed in 2 places had dropped significantly.

Anyway, as an ordinary user, I do feel that the 4G network speed has dropped significantly. Moreover, the three major operators are actively promoting 5G packages, 2G is about to be withdrawn from the network, and the preferential 4G packages are being removed from the shelves. All of this makes us suspicious.

In any case, we still hope that the 5G package charges can be reduced to "dirt cheap" as soon as possible, and we also ask the operators to abide by their promises and provide better network quality for the majority of users.
