According to China News Service, on March 1, the State Council Information Office held a press conference on the development of industry and information technology. Xiao Yaqing, Minister of Industry and Information Technology, said that the average mobile Internet access traffic per 5G user is about 50% higher than that of 4G users, and now the unit price has dropped to 4.4 yuan/GB. Xiao Yaqing also said that China was relatively early in the construction of 5G networks. Whether it is the total number of base stations, the quality of the network, or the manufacturing level of communication equipment, it can be said that it is leading the world. Many companies, including Huawei and ZTE, have cooperated with world-renowned companies such as Nokia and Ericsson, and these companies are world leaders. Domestically, we have built more than 718,000 5G base stations, and the investment in 5G has exceeded hundreds of billions. Now it has basically covered all cities above the prefecture level in the country, and the independent networking mode has been deployed on a large scale. We give full play to the technical advantages of network slicing to provide large bandwidth, low latency and other services.

Xiao Yaqing also introduced that in 2020, the shipment of mobile phone terminals reached 163 million units, and 218 new models were launched, which is a large volume. Innovative applications are becoming increasingly abundant. In the consumer field, technologies such as 5G + ultra-high definition and 5G + AR/VR are widely used. Fields such as game entertainment, live broadcast of events, and residential services are being explored and practiced. Education and medical care use 5G + artificial intelligence + big data technology to provide services. In 2020, the epidemic prevention and control has made greater progress in our family education and smart medical care.

IT Home learned that at the meeting, Tian Yulong, spokesperson of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that in order to vigorously promote the high-quality development of the information and communication industry, this year we must orderly advance the construction of 5G networks, accelerate the layout of 6G, promote network optimization and upgrades, and ensure network security.
