Dish Network plans to acquire Republic Wireless

According to foreign media, Dish Network announced plans to acquire virtual operator Republic Wireless. If the acquisition is successful, Dish Network will have control over the latter's brand and various additional assets. It is reported that Republic Wireless focuses on affordable MVNO wireless services, has about 200,000 customers, and allows users to purchase data-only packages.

According to Dish Network, after the acquisition is completed, Republic Wireless will continue to operate as an independent company and become a wholesale customer of DISH's 5G network. If all goes well, the transaction will be completed in the second quarter of 2021.

Republic Wireless is not the first virtual operator to be acquired by Dish Network. In August 2020, Dish Network announced that it would acquire a large number of key assets of Tinge Mobile and take over the right to use the brand. However, after the acquisition, Ting Mobile customers under Dish Network's leadership did not change.
