After the rapid development in 2020, 2021 is a critical year for my country's 5G. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said that this year, my country's 5G base station construction will reach a cumulative goal of 1 million, and further results will be achieved in 5G network coverage, 5G terminal connections, 5G user growth and 5G commercial exploration. Against this background, my country's 5G construction has continued to make progress since April 2021, and the development of the industry is expected.

Huawei proposes 5.5G, expects it to be implemented before 2025

At the IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference held earlier this month, Dr. Zhu Peiying of Huawei delivered a speech entitled "Endless Frontiers: From 5G to 5.5G", in which she called on the industry to jointly launch 5.5G innovation and standardization towards 2025. Huawei believes that 5.5G is the addition of UCBC (uplink ultra-wideband), RTBC (real-time broadband interaction) and HCS (communication perception convergence) to the traditional eMBB, mMTC and URLLC scenarios of 5G.

Five departments in Hubei issued a document to solve the problem of electricity consumption of 5G base stations

On April 1, the "Notice on Reducing the Electricity Cost of 5G Base Stations" jointly issued by the Hubei Provincial Development and Reform Commission, the Department of Economics and Information Technology, the Market Supervision Administration, the Communications Administration, and the Energy Bureau officially came into effect and was implemented. It is understood that the "Notice" takes multiple measures to effectively reduce the electricity cost of 5G base stations in the province and provide important support for the accelerated development of the 5G industry.

China Mobile was named the fastest 5G operator in Hong Kong in the fourth quarter

On April 11, China Mobile Hong Kong was rated as the fastest 5G network operator in Hong Kong in the fourth quarter of 2020 by Ookla, an internationally renowned network speed testing platform. According to reports, from December 2020 to February 2021, China Mobile Hong Kong has led the local market in average download and upload speeds for three consecutive months, with the average download and upload speeds in February 2021 reaching 210Mbps and 32Mbps respectively.

Henan aims to build 168,000 5G base stations by 2023

On April 14, the Henan Provincial People's Government recently issued the Henan Province Action Plan for Promoting New Infrastructure Construction (2021-2023). The plan points out that it will coordinate the planning and layout of 5G networks, promote the construction of 5G core network regional centers, increase support for 5G base station site selection, electricity use, and funds, promote 5G commercial deployment and network and base station upgrades, and strive to reach 168,000 5G base stations.

my country has built the world's largest 5G mobile network

At the State Council's regular policy briefing on April 19, Liu Liehong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that my country has initially built the world's largest 5G mobile network, with 260 million 5G mobile terminal connections, an increase of 61.3 million compared to the end of 2020. By the end of 2020, my country had built a total of 718,000 5G base stations. This year and during the next "14th Five-Year Plan" period, my country will build a complete 5G network.

Unisoc launches new 5G brand - "Tanggula"

On April 20, at the Unisoc Innovation Future Conference, Unisoc announced the launch of a new 5G brand - Tanggula. Under the new Tanggula brand system, Unisoc has made a new product plan for the 5G mobile platform. The 6 series will benefit the general public, the 7 series will emphasize product experience upgrades, the 8 series will focus on performance pioneers, and the 9 series will represent cutting-edge technology. The original T7510 was renamed Unisoc Tanggula T740, and the T7520 was renamed T770.

China Mobile has built more than 410,000 5G base stations

At the Fourth Digital China Summit held on April 26, Dong Xin, general manager of China Mobile, said in his speech that China Mobile has built more than 410,000 5G base stations, accounting for more than half of the country. In addition, Dong Xin predicts that in the next five years, the direct and driven investment in my country's new digital infrastructure will exceed 15 trillion yuan, of which 5G will exceed 7.5 trillion yuan and big data centers will exceed 5 trillion yuan.
