Australia completes first millimeter wave auction, 5 companies receive licenses

According to foreign media, Australia has completed the auction of 360 spectrums in all 27 geographic regions, with the government earning A$647.6 million. A total of five companies have obtained licenses for the 26GHz band. The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) said that all but two of the lots have been sold.

It is reported that Telstra won 150 spectrums for A$276.6 million, Optus won 116 spectrums for A$226.2 million, and Telecom purchased 86 spectrums for A$108.2 million. In addition, Pentanet and Dense Air also purchased a certain amount of spectrum. The chairman of ACMA said that this auction is an important milestone for Australia's 5G. These spectrums make high-speed communication services possible in large cities and major regional centers.
