According to the latest report from GSA, as of the end of May 2021, 443 telecom operators in 133 countries and regions around the world have invested in 5G, of which 169 operators in 70 countries and regions have launched 5G commercial services. So far, 5G services have been launched in all continents of the world.

In terms of spectrum allocation, governments in 34 countries have auctioned or allocated C-band spectrum since late 2015. In addition, operators in 28 countries currently have millimeter wave spectrum licenses that can be used for 5G deployment.

The report states that operators are turning to C-band spectrum for 5G deployment, with 178 operators holding relevant spectrum licenses, or deploying or already deploying. Globally, 112 licenses for millimeter wave spectrum in the 26GHz and 28GHz bands have been issued, of which 27 millimeter wave networks are being deployed or have been deployed. At the same time, the 700MHz spectrum is becoming increasingly important, and by the end of 2022, it is expected that there will be 33 auctions or allocations of 700MHz spectrum worldwide.

In terms of 5G terminals, the number of terminals announced and commercially available is increasing. So far, 882 different types of 5G terminals have been announced, of which 511 have been put on the market. Among the 5G terminals that have been announced, 395 support the n77 and n78 frequency bands, and 77 commercially available terminals support the millimeter wave frequency band.

At the same time, the deployment of 5G SA networks is accelerating around the world, and the number of 5G terminals supporting 5G SA is also increasing. In addition, more and more private networks are being deployed using 5G.
