5G has been developed for three years, why are people still using 4G?

I remember that in 2018, there was a lot of news about 5G. Huawei also released the first 5G mobile phone in China, Mate20 X, in the fall of the same year. But three years later, why are most users still using 4G?

1. 5G packages are too expensive. The current mainstream 5G packages cost more than 100 yuan, which is really not cheap, and they are not unlimited packages. You should know that most people’s mobile phone packages are only 40 or 50 yuan, which is not a little bit expensive.

2. The experience has not improved much. The two major advantages of 5G are fast network speed and low latency. Fast network speed is only reflected when downloading software and caching videos. However, there is usually wifi at home, and there are not many usage scenarios such as downloading software and caching videos outdoors. Low latency is only useful when playing games, but there is no difference from 4G at present.

3. Currently, there are too few 5G applications, or even none. There were disruptive applications in the 3G and 4G eras, but 5G has not yet developed its own exclusive functions. 5G can do what 4G can do. The self-driving cars and telemedicine that are hyped online are not actually the key issues of 5G technology, and they have little to do with mobile phone users.

Overall, it is not difficult to find that buying a 5G mobile phone and upgrading to a 5G package costs a lot more money, but the actual experience has not been improved. Isn't the money wasted? Therefore, most people are still using 4G.
