China has built and put into operation more than 1.39 million 5G base stations

According to Zhongguancun Online, relevant personnel from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China recently stated that as of November 2021, China has built and opened more than 1.39 million 5G base stations and more than 2,300 virtual private networks and hybrid private networks, accelerating the formation of a 5G network system that meets industry needs.

In 2021, China's gigabit optical network construction was accelerated, and it has the capacity to cover 240 million households. IPv6 networks and terminals were gradually promoted, and the industrial Internet identification resolution system operated stably. 166 secondary nodes have been built, serving 48,000 companies, and the number of identification registrations has exceeded 70 billion.

It is reported that 5G applications have covered many fields of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries. The potential of 5G in enabling the digital transformation of the economy and society has been continuously released, and nearly 50% of 5G applications have been commercially implemented. The innovative application of the Industrial Internet has been deepened and expanded, and has been widely used in more than 40 key industries of the national economy, such as steel, machinery, transportation, and energy. Among them, there are more than 1,800 "5G+Industrial Internet" projects under construction.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China stated that in 2022, it is necessary to systematically plan the construction of new infrastructure, steadily and orderly advance the construction of 5G and gigabit optical networks, and deepen co-construction and sharing; optimize the layout of new data center construction across the country to achieve optimal matching of computing resources and network resources; carry out intelligent transformation and green upgrading of network facilities, accelerate information and communication to empower energy conservation and emission reduction in all areas of the economy and society, and help achieve carbon peak and carbon neutrality.

It is worth mentioning that the National Industrial and Information Technology Work Conference held earlier made it clear that by the end of 2022, gigabit optical networks will be able to cover more than 400 million households. We will increase innovation and promotion of IPv6 applications and accelerate the integrated application of 5G in vertical industries.
